Bell ScheduleAttendance Info
California law requires every child attend school. The State of California has taken a very different approach to school attendance. Schools are no longer given credit for students who are not in attendance, even if the student has an excused absence. California Education Code considers three absences or three tardies (or any combination thereof) to be truancy for a student. If a student is missing anything over the state average (seven days of absences), we are required to begin looking at a referral to the School Attendance and Review Board (SARB). However, absences will not be counted for truancy if they are for reasons of illness, medical appointments, and funerals in accordance with state law.

Absences ~ 9 or Less is Best!
Excusing your child’s absence is very important. If your child is absent from school, please call the office by 9:00 a.m. to excuse your child’s absence, or you may send a note with your child the day he/she returns to school.
For an entire school year, nine (9) or less absences are best. Students missing nine days every year from Kindergarten to twelfth grade will have missed 117 days which equals 702 hours of valuable instruction time. Students missing an average of two days per month starting their kindergarten year, will have missed 234 days. That equals a loss of an entire year of school and one-third of another school year.
Teachers are at school from 8:00am to 3:30pm unless participating in special district activities. Children who walk to school are asked to arrive no earlier than 7:45am. Students that are being dropped off are also asked to arrive no earlier than 7:45am. Any student arriving before 8:15am must report to the cafeteria.
After school, all children should report directly to the afterschool program (ASES) or go directly home. There is an exception when participating in special school activities or when arrangements have been made by parents and teachers. When school ends, the hallways and playgrounds are for the use of the ASES program from 2:40pm – 6:00pm daily. Any other use must receive permission for the Superintendent-Principal.
